Custom Made Crossing

Custom Crossing — Your route. Your challenge.

4.5 km to 32 km (2.8 to 19.9 miles) | Solo, relay, tandem or relay-tandem | Price on request

Not every swimmer wants the same challenge. Some are preparing for a channel attempt. Some are raising money for a cause. Some simply want to design an experience that is entirely their own.

A Custom Crossing lets you choose your route, your distance, your format — and we build the logistics around you. Fort Boyard remains the symbolic heart of every crossing we organise, but the starting point, finishing point, and distance are defined together based on your project, your level, and the conditions on the day.

Every custom project is reviewed and confirmed individually before any booking is finalised.

Formats

Choose your format

Available distances:

4.5 km to 32 km (2.8 to 19.9 miles)

Available formats

Solo — you swim the full distance alone

Relay — 2 or 3 swimmers taking turns

Tandem — 2 swimmers swimming together at the same time

Relay-tandem — teams combining both formats

The departure and arrival points are agreed together. The route is adapted to your experience and to safety conditions on the day.

Requirments

Level required

The level required depends on the distance you choose:

- Shorter distances (4.5 km – 10 km): comfortable open water swimmer with previous sea swimming experience.

- Longer distances (10 km – 32 km): highly experienced open water swimmer, capable of sustained effort over many hours in variable conditions.

Whatever your level, open water experience in sea conditions is essential. Pool swimming backgrounds alone are not sufficient.

A personal assistant accompanying you on the support boat is mandatory for all custom crossings.

What's included

What's organised for you

Every custom crossing includes the full Boyard Challenge Swim support structure:

- Dedicated assistance boat throughout

- 1 to 2 qualified skippers

- Certified open water rescue professional on board

- Dedicated swim supervisor

- Stroke count monitoring every 30 minutes

- Restaurant booking to celebrate the finish

Meals are not included in the crossing fee — they are at the swimmer's expense.

The swimmer is responsible for their own nutrition and feeding equipment (throw-line system).
